The Art Gallery at Collin College will host the exhibition From Darkness Into The Light by artist Nan Martin from Feb. 26-March 20 at the Plano Campus. A reception is planned from 4-7 p.m. on Feb. 29. The show and reception are free and open to the public.

Martin describes From Darkness Into The Light as sculpture “focusing on life’s hardships and complexities … to touch an emotional chord and elicit self-reflective moments in those who see my work.”

“I find myself coming full circle in a world drenched in fear and hate,” Martin said. “I seek the whimsical, soft, colorful world of textiles, attempting to soothe life’s hard realities one stitch at a time.”

Martin, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Clothing and Textiles and a Master of Arts in Sculpture, was featured on HGTV’s Modern Masters series in 2007.

The Art Gallery is located on Collin College’s Plano Campus, Room A175, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Gallery hours are: 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday.
