North Texas ISSA Donates Funds for Collin College Scholarships

Representatives from Collin College joined members of the North Texas Information Security Systems Association for a photo after announcing a $21,000 donation to the Collin College Foundation.

May 19, 2022 The North Texas Chapter of the Information Security Systems Association (North Texas ISSA) donated $21,000 to the Collin College Foundation for student scholarships on March 31.

The money was raised in conjunction with the groups annual cybersecurity conference held at Collin Colleges Plano Campus in the fall.

North Texas ISSA values its partnership with Collin College, said Sean Richards, North Texas ISSA president. Engaging with the aspiring cybersecurity professionals at Collin College is an exciting privilege that embodies the North Texas ISSAs mission of driving cybersecurity education and excellence across all stages of the profession.

Since the first North Texas ISSA cybersecurity conference at Collin College, the group and its generous sponsors have donated over $108,000 to the schools scholarship program.

In Spring 2020, Collin College began offering a new Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity, and the first class will be graduating this May. The BAT program is housed at the state-of-the-art IT Center at the Frisco Campus.

The North Texas ISSA gift allows students to take their education to the next level with a degree that offers high-wage jobs in a high-growth field, said Dr. Brenden Mesch, dean of academic and workforce program at the Frisco Campus.
