June 17, 2022 The Art Gallery at Collin College will host A Journey to the Ancient Hymns, an exhibition of acrylic on canvas works by Deepa Koshaley, June 30-July 21. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Koshaley, a Dallas-area artist who works largely in a non-objective style, is strongly influenced by her faith and her Indian heritage.
Koshaley does spiritual chanting during her creative process as part of a spiritual direction while applying pigment to the canvas, said Julie Shipp, director of The Art Gallery. Her approach has been shaped by a rootedness in Hinduisms music, mythology, and symbolism as well as with the Wests mostly secular conversation with painterly abstraction.
A reception is planned for Thursday, June 30 from 4-7 p.m. at The Art Gallery.
The Art Gallery is located at Collin Colleges Plano Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Room A175, in Plano.
