Constitution Day events open to all

Campuses across the district will mark Constitution Day with events over the next couple of weeks.

Constitution Day events recognize the date the United States Constitution was signed by members of the Constitutional Convention, Sept. 17, 1787, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Generally observed annually on Sept. 17, that date falls on a Saturday this year when fewer students, faculty, and staff are on campus.

Thursday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m.-Noon
Technical Campus Building A
Level 0 by A006 and Level 1 by Cougar Caf
The campus will celebrate with trivia and treats, and provide a selfie station at both locations.

Thursday, Sept. 15, 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
Wylie Campus Conference Center
The campus will host Constitutional Conversations with Dr. Millie Black, Dr. Brian Blanchard, and Professor Zack Shipley. Food will be provided. For more information, contact Dr. Michael McConachie at MMcconachie@collin.edu.

Thursday, Sept. 15, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Farmersville Campus Atrium and Library
The campus will host a Constitution Day Trivia Game (with prizes) run by professors David Latona and Calin Scoggins in the atrium. Additionally, in the campus library, Professor Paul Sturdevant will host a Q&A session accompanying a display of antique books and documents related to the Constitution. Her previous book,Fruits of Victory: The Womans Land Army in the Great War,was excerpted inSmithsonian Magazineand featured on C-Span and public radio stations nationwide.She is a popular public speaker and frequent media commentator on the themes of womens political organization and modern voting rights. Steven Spielbergs Amblin production company is currently adapting The Womans Hourfor the screen.
