Collin College Honored as Best for Vets For 10th Year

Sept. 26, 2022 Collin College has been named as one of the Best for Vets: Colleges 2022 rankings by Military Times. This is the 10th year that the college has earned this distinction.

Collin College is committed to offering comprehensive resources and academic services to assist student veterans in achieving their educational goals, said Dr. Abe Johnson, Collin College senior vice president. We strive to create a supportive environment for all students, and we are so proud of the continued recognition by Military Times.

Collin College is second in Texas and 14th nationwide among two-year public colleges with general education offerings. The only two-year college to rank higher than Collin College in the Southwest region is Central Texas College in Killeen, which is also the home to Fort Hood. Collin College ranked in ninth place among all two- and four-year colleges in Texas.

Rankings are based on publicly available data from the U.S. Departments of Education, Veterans Affairs, and Defense, as well as survey results assessing veteran and military services and rates of academic achievement. According toMilitary Times,more than 300 schools participated in the latest Best for Vets: Colleges survey. The survey included more than 70 questions about the schools costs, programs, policies, and services that impact military-connected students.

Collin College served 1,076 veterans in 2021-22, the period for which the survey was conducted. The district works to ensure that veterans have the support they need to get the most out of their college experience. Collin College serves more than 57,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Construction Management. The only public college based in Collin County, Collin College is a partner to business, government, and industry, providing customized training and workforce development.
