January 19, 2023 Today, the Collin College Foundation honored a major gift from construction firm Skanska during a dedication ceremony with company executives, college officials, and foundation representatives. The company donated $50,000 as a sponsor for the Construction Lab at Collin Colleges Technical Campus in Allen.

The gift is a milestone for the college as the foundation expands the naming rights program into sponsorships for high-profile labs in technical programs. Skanska is the first construction firm to sign on. Skanskas gift will support students through the Construction Management Excellence Fund.

The construction industry in North Texas is booming, but labor is in short supply. This gift is special because Skanska stepped forward to be part of the solution. Collin College president Dr. Neil Matkin said. Skanska was an invaluable partner for the college when we were building new campuses, and we continue to benefit from the companys innovation. We are thrilled to celebrate Skanskas generosity to our students.

The college debuted new associate degree and certificate programs in construction in 2018. Since then, the college has also added a new bachelors degree in construction management.

Our partnership with Collin College runs deep. We are continually impressed by the students who graduate from Collin, and we want to do our part to help empower those who choose to pursue careers in the construction industry, executive vice president and general manager of Skanska North Texas Dennis Yung said.
