Auteur Film Series Presents Spotlight

April 5, 2023 Collin Colleges 2022-23 Auteur Film Series will conclude with Spotlight, Wednesday, April 19 at 7 p.m. at the McKinney Campus Conference Center. The showing and film series is free and open to the public.

Academy Award-winning Spotlight follows the true story of The Boston Globes investigative reporting team as they cover a major sexual abuse scandal within the Catholic Church. The movie explores the personal, professional, and societal forces that journalists often face when reporting on controversial issues, as well as the necessity of doing so. The film is presented in conjunction with Quest: An Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Journal.

The Auteur Film Series presents classic, foreign, and independent films with brief educational introductions before the screenings and faculty-led panel discussions afterward. The film series is designed to challenge the viewers intellect and encourage conversations that engage students in civil discourse. This years film series theme is journalism.

Doors open 30 minutes before the film begins at 7 p.m., and seating is limited. Some material may not be suitable for all audiences. Collin Colleges McKinney Campus Conference Center is located at 2400 Community Ave. in McKinney.
