Free Music Events Planned in April, May

April 12, 2023 Collin College welcomes the public to its free music series this April and May. Community members are encouraged to attend and see the caliber of musicians attending the college.

The following events are free and open to the public, although reservations are encouraged for events in the Plano Campus John Anthony Theatre. Reservations can be made athttps://collin.universitytickets.com/.

Chamber Choir and Keyboard Ensemble
Monday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre

Collins Chamber Choir and Keyboard Ensemble will present a concert of Romantic and modern works.Selections by Whitacre, Elgar, Brahms, Khachaturian, and Godowsky will be featured along with two premiere choral works by Professor Kathy Morgan and Matthew Wibben, a Collin composition student.

OneSound a Capella
Friday-Saturday, April 21-22 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre

Award-winning student a capella group, OneSound, will wow the audience with their unique arrangements and choreography of current pop songs and hits from the past.

Vocal Honors
Monday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in The Art Gallery at Collin College

Enjoy an evening of art songs and arias presented by the studios of Natalie Arduino and Casey L. Carter. The performances will explore the childhood fables of Irving Fine, along with a beautiful program featuring some of Collin Colleges best and brightest singers.

Winds and String Ensemble
Tuesday, April 25 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre

The concert will feature traditional and contemporary works for orchestra and band.

Guitar Ensemble
Wednesday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre

Collin Colleges award-winning One OClock Guitar Ensemble will perform a program of music from various historical periods.

Jazz Combos
Friday, April 28 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre

This concert will feature the Collin Jazz Combo PM and Jazz Combo Too, with works from multiple styles, including swing, bebop, fusion, and Latin.

Jazz Lab Band and Jazztet
Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre

This concert will feature the Collin Jazztet and Jazz Lab Band with works from multiple styles, including swing, bebop, fusion, and Latin.

Opera in a Box
Sunday, April 30 at 3:30 p.m. in the Plano Campus atrium
Monday, May 1 at 7 p.m. in the Plano Campus atrium

The students of the Collin College Opera Workshop ensembles will present a fairy tale extravaganza!Enjoy Pauline Viardot Garcias Cinderella and Englebert Humperdinks Hansel & Gretelwith an intermission between the two productions.

New Music Ensemble
Tuesday, May 2 at 7 p.m. in The Art Gallery at Collin College

The New Music Ensemble will present a concert of original works by Collin College student composers focusing on contemporary experimental music.

Solo Guitar
Wednesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in The Art Gallery at Collin College

This guitar recital will feature students performing classical guitar solo works from the Renaissance to the present day.
