Collin College Receives Gold-Level Veterans Award for Third Time in a Row

Collin College recently received the gold-level status of the 2023 Veterans Education Excellence Recognition Award (VEERA) from the Texas Veterans Commission. This is the third time the college has received the award (2021, 2022, 2023).
The award recognizes institutions that provide excellence in education and related services to veteran students and promotes best practices by awarding gold-, silver- and bronze-level status to those offering these services.
“It is a privilege to receive this award for the third consecutive year from the Texas Veterans Commission,” said Dr. Abe Johnson, senior vice president of campus operations. “The college is committed to working with student veterans and providing them with excellent education and the services they need to reach their goals.”
This spring 1,373 veterans and military-connected students were enrolled in Collin College classes. The college has several Veterans Resource Centers (VRCs) designed to connect students with resources, ensure a smooth transition into college, and foster academic success. Information on financial aid, Veterans Affairs education benefits, personal counseling, and membership in the Student Veterans of America is available through the college’s VRCs. Collin College serves more than 57,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 200 degrees and certificates, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity, a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Construction Management, and a new Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Clinical Operations Management.
