Collin College Auteur Film Festival presents "Psycho"

Collin College’s Auteur Film Series continues its 2023-24 selections with Psycho at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Plano Campus Living Legends Conference Center. The screening and subsequent panel discussion are free and open to the public.

In the spirit of this year’s theme of “Nothing New Under the Sun: Remixes and Remakes,” the Auteur Film Series will show Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 thriller about an embezzler on the run and her decision to stay at the Bates Motel, where secrets can get you killed. The film was remade nearly shot-for-shot by director Gus Van Sant as an “experimental project” starring Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche in 1998.

The Auteur Film Series presents classic, foreign, and independent films with brief educational introductions before the screenings and faculty-led panel discussions afterward. The film series is designed to challenge the viewer’s intellect and encourage conversations that engage students in civil discourse.

The films will all be shown at 7 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before each film begins, and seating is limited. Some material may not be suitable for all audiences.

The Auteur Film Series is supported by Collin College’s Academic Affairs and Workforce divisions and funded in part by the Student Activity Fee Advisory Committee (SAFAC) at the college.
