Students celebrate at commencement ceremony

Collin College will celebrate the accomplishments of summer and fall students with a commencement ceremony at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center, 200 E. Stacy Road in Allen. Doors open for graduates and guests at 5:30 p.m.

David L. Downs, Collin College alumnus and 2022 Plano Citizen of the Year, will deliver the commencement address. Downs is the managing partner for Downs Fischer Financial and an award-winning photographer. He is the immediate past chair of the Collin College Foundation board of directors on which he has served for more than a decade and is chair elect for the Plano Chamber of Commerce. He has also served on the Plano City Council, Plano Planning and Zoning Commission, the City House Board, Medical City Plano Advisory Board, and Leadership Plano Executive Board as well as serving countless community charities.

Collin College serves more than 58,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 200 degrees and certificates, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity, a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Construction Management, and a new Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Clinical Operations Management. The only public college based in Collin County, Collin College is a partner to business, government, and industry, providing customized training and workforce development.
