The Collin College Bill and Anita Collins Art Gallery at the Wylie Campus is showcasing
Nikki Stinson’s artwork daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through March 8.
Stinson is a world-renowned artist who creates colorful abstract paintings, which
are an expression on how she views the world around her. Born and raised in Denver,
Colorado, with a background in marketing and advertising, Stinson decided to pursue
her passion for creating fine art. Her abstract paintings represent years of experiences
layered onto one another through the application of paint and hand-selected papers
and materials. Although known for her large-scale paintings and murals, a portion
of her work takes a cue from her graphic design background, collaging imagery digitally
into remixed pieces of printed art.
Stinson currently owns and runs her own business “Nikki Stinson Art,”and has most
recently devoted her time to teaching the youth as a visual arts teacher at Trinity
Christian Academy, focusing on high school and middle school levels. In her spare
time, she loves traveling, museum hopping, and dabbling in gardening, photography,
and anything design-related. She is a self-described art supply hoarder and believes
one can never collect too many art coffee table books.
There will be a closing reception an artist lecture to celebrate Stinson’s artwork
from 3-7 p.m. on Feb. 29 at the Bill and Anita Collins Art Gallery at the Wylie Campus,
located at 391 Country Club Road in Wylie.
