Book-in-Common Welcomes "Night of the Living Rez" Author

Morgan Talty, author of “Night of the Living Rez,” will speak at Book-In-Common events, April 9-10 at Collin College’s Frisco, McKinney, and Plano campuses. The lectures and writer’s workshop are free and open to the public.
“Night of the Living Rez” is a collection of connected short stories revolving around “David,” a member of the Panawahpskek (or Penobscot) Nation of Maine. The stories move back and forth through time, covering his childhood through adulthood and the harsh realities of reservation life.In its review of the book, Publisher’s Weekly wrote, “Talty brings an abundance of love and skill to his accounts of troubled lives. The ingenious structure and heartbreaking stories make this unforgettable.”
Talty will discuss his book and his writing process further at three upcoming events: an author presentation and book-signing at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 in Collin College’s Frisco Campus Conference Center, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco; a writer’s workshop at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 in the Plano Campus Living Legends Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano; and an author presentation and book-signing at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10 in the McKinney Campus Conference Center, 2400 Community Ave. in McKinney.
The Book-In-Common lecture series is the culmination of a yearlong program in which students throughout the college and community members are encouraged to read the same book and discuss its themes.
