Collin College will celebrate the accomplishments of its graduating students with a
commencement ceremony at 7 p.m., Friday, May 10, at the Credit Union of Texas Event
Center, 200 E. Stacy Road in Allen. Doors open for graduates and ticket-holding guests
at 5:30 p.m.
Dr. David Vinson will deliver the commencement address. Dr. Vinson assumed his role
as Superintendent at Wylie Independent School District in July 2011, bringing more
than two decades of experience in public education to WISD. Before coming to Wylie,
Dr. Vinson served as Superintendent of Floresville ISD and held various leadership
positions in Frenship ISD. He began his educational journey as a teacher in West Texas
and holds three degrees from Texas Tech University: a Bachelor of Business Administration
in Management/Marketing, a Master of Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum
and Instruction.
Dr. Vinson has devoted his career to implementing character education and fostering
academic excellence in every school district he has been associated with. He and his
wife, Cristy, are the proud parents of two children.
Collin College serves more than 58,000 credit and continuing education students annually
and offers more than 200 degrees and certificates, including a Bachelor of Science
in Nursing (BSN), a Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity, a Bachelor
of Applied Science (BAS) in Construction Management, and a new Bachelor of Applied
Science (BAS) in Clinical Operations Management. The only public college based in
