Celebrate four decades of educational excellence at Collin College with two community events to mark Collin’s 40th anniversary. Both events are free and open to the public.

“From our first campus in McKinney to our newest campus in Celina, Collin College has grown along with the communities and the people of Collin County,” said Dr. Neil Matkin, Collin College district president. “We are glad that you will be able to celebrate this milestone with us at these two great public events. Come out and enjoy the fun.”

Festivities kick off with the Where It All Began Music Festival from 1-7 p.m., Saturday, April 5 at McKinney Campus. A fun-for-all-ages tribute to Collin College’s original campus, the Where It All Began Music Festival will feature six musical acts performing in a variety of styles, along with food trucks, inflatables, lawn games, and giveaways.

Bring a blanket or a folding chair, sit back, and groove to the “Sunshine Soul” sounds of Collin alumna Maya Piata, the alt-pop music of Rags and Riches, the electronic-R&B and dance anthems of Alto Moon, the indie-pop stylings of Collin student Remy Reilly, the Texas Country and blues of the Cash Byers Band, and the multi-instrumentalist melodies of Blurry Paige. The festival’s entrances open at 12:30 p.m. with the first act taking the stage at 1 p.m. The festival will take place in the library quad. McKinney Campus is located at 2200 W. University Drive in McKinney.

Collin College’s Celina Campus, which opened in 2021, will celebrate the district’s 40thanniversary as part of its annual Celina Campus Carnival. The free event will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at Celina Campus located at 2505 Kinship Parkway in Celina.

Community members of all ages can enjoy a variety of games, rides, and free food and drinks. Carnival-goers can also win prizes. The entry gates will close at 6:30 p.m. If there is inclement weather, the carnival will be rescheduled. For more information, please email celinacarnival@collin.edu or call 469.905.3572.
