“Being named Military Friendly® every year of the past decade is certainly an honor, and we are thankful that our efforts are being recognized,” said Dr. Neil Matkin, Collin College district president. “The real reward, though, is in providing our student veterans with the resources to make their educational goals a reality. Collin College remains committed to helping veterans and military-connected students achieve those goals.”
Institutions which earn Military Friendly® School designations have been evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey which measure factors including student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2025-26 survey with 830 earning special awards for going above the standard. Collin College was awarded the silver designation in the Large Community Colleges category.
“Collin College strives to create a supportive environment for all of our students, and we are humbled by the continued recognition of the efforts targeted to our service members by Military Times,” said Alan Pixley, director of Financial Aid and Veterans Services for Collin College. “We encourage military members and their families to learn about the services we offer.”
The 2025-26 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May and October issues of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.

About Military Friendly® Schools
The Military Friendly® Schools list is created each year based on extensive research
using public data sources from more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student
veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey from participating institutions. The survey questions, methodology,
criteria and weighting were developed with the assistance of an independent research
firm and an advisory council of educators and employers. The survey is administered
for free and is open to all post-secondary schools that wish to participate. Criteria
for consideration can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.
