Frequently Asked Questions

Reverse transfer is the process of awarding an associate degree to students who begin their education at Collin College, transfer to another institution, and complete their associate degree requirements while working toward a bachelor’s degree.

Studies have shown that students who complete their associate degree are more likely to complete a bachelor’s degree. Earning an associate degree has many other benefits, including:

  • Enhancing your resume to make you a more attractive job candidate
  • Allowing you to earn income to fund a bachelor's degree
  • Showing initiative to complete academic milestones should you have to unexpectedly stop pursuing your bachelor's degree

You must complete at least 25% of your associate degree at Collin College which equates to at least 15 semester credit hours. You must have also earned a minimum of a 2.0 GPA while at Collin College. Your associate degree then depends on the course credit you earn at your four-year institution. This is evaluated case-by-case.

There are few costs associated with reverse transfer. Collin College does not charge you for the reverse transfer process. Your transfer institution may charge you a transcript request fee. You also may require additional courses to complete your associate degree plan.

  1. Request an official transcript from the university you are attending or have attended to be sent to Collin College at transcripts@collin.edu.
