Transfer F-1 Visa Applicants

What is a Transfer F-1 Applicant?

Transfer F-1 applicants are students on an F-1 visa and have an active I-20 currently held at another institution​ in the United States.

 

Important information about transfer admission:

--Collin College does not issue PRE-OPT, nor do we provide STEM OPT recommendations for students with a previous STEM degree of a bachelor's or higher from other institutions. Collin College only offer STEM OPT recommendations for Collin College's bachelor degree program in Cybersecurity.  

--Students who are Out of Status will not be granted admission.

--Students who have below a 2.0 GPA will not be granted admission. 

 

 

 

Step 1: Apply

Complete the Collin College Application for Admission 

 

Step 2: Submit Required Documents

Complete the F-1 Applicant Eligibility Questionnaire action item by submitting the following documents

Transcripts from most recently attended school in the U.S.

Passport (showing your name, country of origin, and expiration date with a minimum of 6 months validity)

F-1 Visa 

Continued Attendance I-20

 

Step 3: Proof of English Proficiency - TOEFL and IELTS accepted only; Pearson PTE and Duolingo NOT Accepted

Complete the F-1 Applicants TOEFL Scores or IELTS Scores Required action item by submitting TOEFL (institution code: 6805) or IELTS scores with the following minimum scores to be considered for admittance:

Academic Credit Programs:

TOEFL internet Based Test (iBT) minimum Total Score of  71 
IELTS minimum Overall Band Score of 6.5
    OR

TOEFL exemptions

 

English as a Second Language Program (ESL)

TOEFL internet Based Test (iBT) minimum Total Score of  32, with a minimum score of 8, in each skill

IELTS minimum Overall Band Score of 4.5, with a minimum of 4.0, in each skill

Step 4: Proof of Funds

Complete the F-1 Financial Information Required action item by providing documentation (English translation required) for at least one of the following:

Sponsor/Source	Documentation Required
Personal Savings	Bank statement showing balance equal or greater than $32,000 dated within 6 months of application deadline.
Parents, relatives, friends, or U.S. Sponsor	Letter of guarantee from sponsor    AND Bank statement showing sponsor's name and balance equal or greater than $32,000 dated within 6 months of the application deadline.
Your Government	Official letter confirming type and amount of financial aid.

 

Step 5: Foreign Address

Complete F-1 Foreign Address Required by entering your foreign address in the format of your country. (To included postal / zip code is necessary)

 

Step 6: F-1 Transfer Verification

Complete F-1 Transfer Verification Form by completing and submitting the F-1 Status Verification.
