Online Learning Essentials for Dual Credit Students

With the iCollin Virtual Campus, you can access dual credit courses online from remote locations using a device and an internet connection. Designed and facilitated by professors who are experts in their fields, online courses cover the same material and provide the same learning outcomes as face-to-face courses.

While courses vary, common elements include:

  • Course syllabi
  • Course announcements from the instructor
  • Assigned readings
  • Videos
  • Discussion boards
  • Assignments
  • Remotely proctored exams

Your assignments will have specific due dates throughout the semester — online courses are not self-paced. Interactions with your professor will come through course announcements, email, feedback on assignments, and virtual office hours.

Are you ready to successfully tackle an online dual credit course? Students need self-motivation, time management skills, and technical skills to navigate the online classroom in Canvas. View our Online Learning Guide for more information about navigating Canvas.

You are expected to have access to a reliable internet connection and a dedicated device such as a laptop or tablet to complete your courses. Most courses include remote exam proctoring, which will require a webcam and microphone. You can learn more about taking exams in online courses at our Online Proctored Exam page.

Complete the online learning readiness assessment, SmarterMeasure, to gauge your readiness. SmarterMeasure is a web-based tool which assesses your likelihood for success in an online learning program.
