The following questions do not all pertain directly to the Student Engagement Office. For information regarding a specific department, please contact them directly.

You can obtain your CWID and Username by sending an e-mail to admissions@collin.edu. The e-mail request must include your full legal name and date of birth. Requests are answered by the Admissions Office during normal business hours. Alternatively, you can take a picture ID to the Admissions and Records Office at a campus near you.


Yes, all currently enrolled students at Collin College are required to have a College ID to use services provided by college offices and labs including the Collin College bookstore, Career Services, Computer Labs, Enrollment Management, Fitness Center, Library, Math Lab, Student Engagement, and the Testing Center. A first time student ID is free. A replacement ID is seven dollars. Payments are made at the Cashier/Bursar Office at each campus. Bring the receipt to the Student Engagement Office to receive the replacement ID. For more information, visit the ID Cards page.

Student ID's are available at any Student Engagement Office, as well as room A145 on the Technical Campus.

You must know your entire nine-digit College Wide Identification number (CWID), and must also present a valid photo ID (i.e. Driver's License, Passport, High School ID). In order to obtain a Student ID, you must be enrolled in courses, and have allowed at least 24 hours since enrolling. Students enrolling past the payment deadline or in a wintermester/summer courses will need to pay for the class(es) or set up a payment plan, or their classes will be dropped.

You must complete the Student ID form and have it notarized.  After you have registered for courses, bring the completed Student ID form to one of our ID offices.

Yes, a Student ID will become active each semester you enroll for classes. You can use the same Student ID for your entire tenure at Collin. If you lose it or need a replacement, visit any Student Engagement Office.


UPDATE: As of August 14, 2015 (Fall 2015) the Student ID system has been updated. Any ID prior to this date is no longer valid and will not be accepted and should be destroyed. You must visit any Student Engagement Office to receive your new ID (initial replacement IDs are free). Once your ID has been upgraded, it will become active each semester you enroll and pay for classes at Collin College.


DART services are available. DART offers reduced fares for college students. Please note, you must obtain this discount through DART (https://www.dart.org/fares/collegeid.asp). Check the DART web site for bus routes. Currently the college does not offer DART discount passes.


There are many apartment complexes that advertise on each campus. Check the "For Sale/For Rent" boards or other advertisements that may be placed outside of the Student Engagement Offices.


There are many insurance companies that may offer health insurance for students. The college does not offer any discounts for insurance; however, Collin College is pleased to offer a new benefit called TimelyCare that makes medical and mental telehealth services available at no cost to credit students, adjunct faculty, and part-time staff employees. Parking stickers are required and should be placed on the lower left corner of the driver's side rear window. Parking stickers are available at any Student Engagement Office with a valid Collin ID.

Yes, a fitness center is located at each campus and is available for current Collin students, faculty, and staff. You must present a valid College ID. You can contact the fitness centers for more information at:

Student Engagement is the Lost and Found headquarters for the following campuses:

Student and Enrollment Services coordinates Lost and Found items at:

The Student Services Center coordinates Lost and Found items at the Collin Higher Education Center.

 

Collin College staff coordinates Lost and Found items at the Public Safety Training Center.

 

The director of student housing operations coordinates Lost and Found items at Collin College Student Housing.

 

Lost and Found items will be held for a maximum of 30 days. 


A phone is available for local calls, limited use (2 minute maximum), at each campus Information Desk. Office phones are for Faculty/Staff use only.


Yes, Collin College has opportunities for campus and community involvement through registered Student Organizations. The purpose of these organizations varies from honor societies to political, religious, service, and social groups. Currently enrolled students may form organizations by following the procedures outlined in the current Student Organization Procedures Manual (SOPM).

Student Engagement is the approval center for posters and advertisements for Community News, Campus News, and For Sale/For Rent boards. If you have any questions about where your advertisement should go, the Student Engagement staff can direct you.


College departments and registered student organizations can make and hang approved banners on each campus according to the established procedures. Banner approval, guidelines, and reservations are available in the “Branding and Identity" section of the current Student Organization Procedures Manual (SOPM).
