(the following are generic questions, not all pertain directly to the Student Engagement
Office)

Q: Where is the "Lost and Found" on campus?
A: Student Engagement is the Lost and Found headquarters at the Farmersville Campus,
Frisco Campus, McKinney Campus, Plano Campus, Technical Campus and Wylie Campus. Student
and Enrollment Services coordinates Lost and Found items at the Celina Campus and
the Courtyard Center (room B-101). The Student Services Center coordinates Lost and
Found items at the Collin Higher Education Center. Collin College staff coordinates
Lost and Found items at the Public Safety Training Center and the Rockwall Center.
The director of student housing operations coordinates Lost and Found items at Collin
College Student Housing. Lost and Found items will be held for a maximum of thirty
(30) days.
Q: Are there any student organizations on campus?
A: Yes, Collin College has opportunities for campus and community involvement through
Registered Student Organizations. The purpose of these organizations varies from honor
societies to political, religious, service, and social groups. Currently enrolled
students may form organizations by following the procedures outlined in the current
Student Organization Procedures Manual (SOPM).

Q: Why do I need a College ID?
A: All currently enrolled students at Collin College are required to have a College ID
to use services provided by college offices and labs including the Collin College
bookstore, Career Services, Computer Labs, Enrollment Management, Fitness Center,
Library, Math Lab, Student Engagement, and the Testing Center.
Q: How much does a Student ID cost?
A: A first time student ID is free. A replacement ID is $7 (seven dollars). Payments
are made at the Cashiers/Bursars Office at each campus. Bring the receipt to the Student
Engagement Office to receive the replacement ID.
Q: Where do I get a Student ID?
A: Student ID's are available at any Student Engagement Office, as well as room A145
on the Technical Campus. For additional information about Student Engagement office

Q: What do I need to get a Student ID?
A: You will need to know your entire nine-digit CWID (College Wide Identification number),
and you must also present a valid photo ID (i.e. Driver's License, Passport, High
School ID). In order to obtain a Student ID, you must be enrolled in courses, and
have allowed at least 24 hours to have passed since enrolling. Students enrolling
past the payment deadline or in a wintermester/summer course will need to pay for
the class(es) or set up a payment plan, or their classes will be dropped.
Q: How do I get a Collin College ID card made if I do not have a physical ID (e.g.
Driver's License, High School ID card, etc.) to present as proof of identity?
A: You will need to complete the Student ID form and have it notarized. After you have registered for courses, bring the completed
Student ID form to one of our ID offices.
Q: I have a Student ID from a previous semester, can I still use it?
A: Yes, a Student ID will become Active each semester you enroll for classes. You can
use the same Student ID for your entire tenure at Collin. If you lose it or need a
replacement, visit any Student Engagement Office.
UPDATE: As of August 14, 2015 (Fall 2015) the Student ID system has been updated. Any ID
prior to this date is no longer valid and will not be accepted and should be destroyed.
You must visit any Student Engagement Office to receive your new ID (initial replacement
IDs are free). Once your ID has been upgraded, it will become active each semester
you enroll and pay for classes at Collin College.
Q: Where should I put my parking sticker?
A: Parking stickers are required and should be placed on the lower left corner of the
rear window, on the driver's side. Parking stickers are available at any Student Engagement
office with a valid Collin ID.
Q: Where can I hang a banner?
A: College departments and Registered Student Organizations can make and hang approved
banners on each campus according to the established procedures. Banner approval, guidelines,
and reservations are available in the “Branding and Identity" section of the current
Student Organization Procedures Manual (SOPM)
Q: Where can I purchase theatre tickets?
A: Tickets are available online and at the theatre box office. Click here for information regarding the Collin Theatre Center.
Q: How do I start a student organization?
A: For information on student organizations as well as how to start one, visit the Student Organizations web page.
Q: Where do I get my class schedule?
A: You can view and print your class schedule online through CougarWeb.
Q: What room is my class in?
A: Your class information can be viewed and printed online through CougarWeb
Q: How do I find my way around the campus?
A: You can download and print campus maps from here. Also, campus maps are located towards the back of the Student Handbook.
Q: Who is my professor?
A: Your class information can be viewed and printed online through CougarWeb.
Q: Do we have a gym?
A: A fitness center is located at each campus and is available for currently enrolled
Collin students and current Faculty/Staff. You must present a valid College ID. You

Q: What are Student Engagement Office hours?
A: Student Engagement Office hours vary per campus. Click here for contact and hours of operation.
Q: How do I get my poster or advertisement approved?
A: Student Engagement is the approval center for posters and advertisements for Community
News, Campus News, and For Sale/For Rent boards. If you are in question as to where
your advertisement should go, the Student Engagement staff can direct you.
Q: Are there public phones on campus for student use?
A: A phone is available for local calls, limited use (2 minute maximum), at each campus
Information Desk. Office phones are for Faculty/Staff use only.
Q: Where do I get my CWID number and Username?
A: You can obtain your CWID and Username by sending an e-mail to admissions@collin.edu. The e-mail request must include the student's full legal name and date of birth.
Requests are answered by Admissions Office during normal business hours. Or, you can take a picture ID to the Admissions and
Records Office at a campus near you.
Q: Where is the testing center located?
A: Location, contact information, and hours of operation for the testing centers can
be found here.
Q: Where are the catalogs for classes?
A: Catalogs are now available online. Click here for current and previous catalogs.
Q: Where do I register for classes?
A: You can register for classes online through CougarWeb.
Q: Is there public transportation to the college?
A: DART services are available. Check the DART web site for bus routes.
DART offers reduced fares for college students. You must obtain this discount through DART (http://www.dart.org/fares/collegeid.asp). Currently the college does not offer DART discount passes.
Q: Is there health insurance available for students?
A: There are many insurance companies that may offer health insurance for students. The
college does not offer any discounts for insurance; however, Collin College is pleased
to offer a new benefit called CougarCare that makes medical and mental telehealth services available at no cost to credit
students, adjunct faculty, and part-time staff employees. Go to Cougar.Care for more information.
Q: Is there a resource to help in looking for an apartment?
A: There are many apartment complexes that advertise on each campus. Check the "For Sale/For
Rent" boards or other advertisements that may be placed outside of the Student Engagement
Offices.
