Delivery Mode - What does it mean?

When you examine the schedule of classes and look under the section details, you will notice a few terms underneath "Delivery Mode." the course title.  (Alternatively, if you are looking at your enrolled courses, these same terms will appear in the Delivery Mode Column).

 

Here is a description of those terms:

• Face-to-Face are in-person courses which consist of regularly scheduled face-to-face meetings at specific campus location; some use of technology is used to support learning.
• Hybrid courses are courses in which 50% or less of the instruction is delivered online. The remaining instruction is delivered through in-person scheduled meetings. 
• Blended courses are courses in which more than 50% but less than 100% of the instruction is delivered online. Some required face-to-face activities (e.g., discussions, presentations, exam administration) will be scheduled intermittently throughout the term.
• Web Synchronous are courses in which 100% of the instruction is conducted using web-based technologies to extend the classroom lecture environment and other activities to students at remote sites in real time. There are no on-campus requirements. These courses utilize web conferencing or other synchronous e-learning media (e.g., Zoom, Canvas, MS Teams) to provide remote access to a classroom experience. 
• Web Courses are courses in which 100% of the instruction is conducted online. Instructional materials, readings, assignments, class discussions, and other assessments may be accessed from remote locations. The course may have some synchronous (live) components but is primarily asynchronous. 

 

Stay informed about your course requirements by reviewing the course/section notes upon registration, reading the course syllabus, checking your Canvas announcements, contacting your professor, and monitoring other forms of communication from the college.  

 

Testing requirements including proctoring with student authentication, a desktop or laptop computer (not a mobile device), webcam, and microphone may be required in hybrid, blended, web synchronous, and web courses. Learn more information about online proctored exams.
