Business Office Systems Support (BOSS)

Overview

Administrative and executive assistants are highly valued, collaborative team members with a wide range of skills in various industries. The impact of technology in the workplace has substantially increased the needs of business and industry for special-trained office professionals. Our students in the Business Office Support Systems (BOSS) program develop competencies in office procedures, software applications, accounting skills, organizational skills, office management, project management, and the essential workplace soft skills employers demand.

Marketable Skills

The BOSS program provides students with the skills necessary to complete report abstracts and become familiar with accounting terminology and financial document preparation, filing procedures, and various business forms. In addition to strengthening students' oral and written communication skills, the program also enhances students' abilities to complete various administrative duties. Some of the responsibilities learned are planning meetings, scheduling appointments, preparing reports, greeting visitors, organizing an office, and resolving relational issues with people inside and outside the organization.
