CDE Overview
Collin Dance Ensemble (CDE) is the student dance company at Collin College. This vibrant company performs contemporary modern dance with the goal of immersing students in academic dance study and performance. Students audition for selection and are committed to the ensemble for the academic year. The company tours throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area performing in local concerts, festivals, and K-12 lecture demonstrations.
Each spring CDE attends the annual American College Dance Association Regional Conference at Texas State University. CDE has been selected for the Gala Performance at the regional festivals 11 times and for one performance in New York City at the American College Dance Association National Conference. CDE dancers have opportunities to work with guest artists. Past guest artists include Elisa De La Rosa, Elledanceworks Dance Company, Sebastian Garcia, Janice Garrett and Dancers, kNOwBOX dance, Reyna Mondragon, Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, jhon r. stronks, Darby Wilde, and 6 O’Clock Dance Theatre.
Dance auditions for CDE are in August prior to the start of the fall semester.

CDE Information
Dancers involved in CDE have worked with professional dance companies and artists including Darby Wilde from Illinois, Jhon R. Stronks from Houston, Janice Garrett & Dancers from San Francisco, Battleworks Dance Company dancers from New York, Pilobolus Too from Connecticut, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble from Michigan, and Elledanceworks Dance Company from Dallas.
Collin Dance Ensemble dancers must be current students at Collin College and many work and go to school full time. Dance auditions for CDE are in August prior to the start of the fall semester.
Selection for CDE is a yearlong commitment. Students must be enrolled at Collin College for both the fall and spring semesters.
A ballet or modern class and a performance class is required for all company members. The ballet or modern class is scheduled on an individual basis based on the company member's technique level. Dancers interested in Collin Dance Ensemble must have Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-4pm free for class and rehearsals.
Collin Dance Ensemble Auditions 2024-2025
Date and Time: Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1 p.m.
Registration/Check-In begins at Noon
Location: Plano Campus, Dance Studio AA146
- You must attend the scheduled audition time.*
- You should arrive EARLY (30 minutes – 1 hour) for the audition to fill out paperwork and you MUST arrive warmed up and ready to dance. You will not be given a warm-up.
- The audition will start on time. If you arrive late, you will be unable to audition.
- You will be taught a series of combinations focusing on different movement qualities and placed into groups to perform each combination. Some dancers may be interviewed. Plan on staying at least 3-4 hours.
- There is no required audition attire. Please wear appropriate dance clothing. Since CDE is a modern dance company, dancing barefoot is preferred.
- You must be enrolled at Collin College as a part-time or full-time student during both fall and spring semesters.
*Note: At this time, there are no opportunities to make up the audition. However, the artistic director reserves the right to hold a second audition if needed.
