Prerequisite Course Descriptions
BIOL 2401 Anatomy and Physiology I:
Anatomy and Physiology I is the first part of a two-course sequence. It is a study
of the structure and function of the human body, including cells, tissues, and organs
of the following systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and special
senses. Emphasis is on interrelationships among systems and regulation of physiological
functions involved in maintaining homeostasis.
This prerequisite must be taken within the last five years before the PTA application
is submitted.
Requirements to Enroll in BIOL 2401
ENGL 1301 Composition I:
Intensive study and practice in writing processes, from invention and researching
to drafting, revising, and editing, both individually and collaboratively. Emphasis
on effective rhetorical choices, including audience, purpose, arrangement, and style.
Focus on writing the academic essay as a vehicle for learning, communicating, and
critical analysis.
PTHA 1409 Intro to Physical Therapy:
The course introduces the learner to the physical therapy profession and the role
of the physical therapist assistant. The course includes introducing basic patient
care skills.
The PTHA 1409 course is offered in multiple sections throughout the Fall and Spring
semesters.
Concurrent Registration
Students can be enrolled in these classes while applying to the Program during the
Spring semester. The application scoring will not include the GPA for a currently
enrolled class; however, the applicant will receive two points on the application
for a concurrently enrolled class. Applicants must submit a transcript once the class
is completed if accepted for admission into the PTA Program. Failure to submit the
transcript will jeopardize your admission into the Program.
