General Guidelines
Collin College awards college credit on the basis of a variety of department examinations. Credit by examination is subject to the following general limitations:
- A maximum of 18 semester hours of credits by examination at this institution or elsewhere may be applied toward the associate degree.
- Credit by examination will not be transcripted until the student has accumulated six semester hours at Collin College.
- Must be a current student in good standing and been enrolled the previous semester.
- Credit earned by examination may not be earned in any course for which the student
had previously received a semester hour credit grade either at this institution or
elsewhere.
(Grades of “F” are included) - Credits earned by examination are not included in the computation of grade point average.
- A minimum score of 70 is required for credit by examination.
- Student eligibility for credit by examination for Fire Science courses is determined by the Fire Science Office.
- A fee of $30.00 is charged for each locally administered examination.
- Students must schedule the exam by calling the Fire Science Office at 972-548-6836.
