Scholarship FAQ


-Returning College Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of awarding to be offered a scholarship.

 

- All students must maintain a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA or equivalent each semester of the award

 

-All students must take six or more credit hours each semester of the award

 

-Must have a current/valid Collin College student account with no registration or cashier hold

 

-Must be classified on your student account as a degree-seeking or certificate-seeking student

 


-Scholarships are not awarded on a first come-first submitted basis. Take your time to complete applications and essays. 

 

-Neither the Foundation nor the College offers scholarships based strictly on grade point average (GPA) or class ranking. 

 

-Foundation scholarships are awarded based upon a variety of factors including program major, academics, residency, financial need, community service, and overall content of your essays/application.  

 

-The application consists of general questions and several open-ended questions such as: What do you want to major in and why? What volunteer service have you done in the community? Why do you need money for college?

 

-Proper grammar and spelling are extremely important when completing the essays.

 

-International students and non-U.S. citizens are welcome to apply and may be eligible to receive general fund scholarships.

 

-All applicants who complete the general application will be matched to opportunities for which they qualify.

 


-Students registered as "Non-Degree Seeking" or taking Non-Credit courses

 

-Students taking Continuing Education (CE) courses

 

-Students enrolled in summer or winter semester courses ONLY

 

-Cover the cost of housing or meals

 

-Scholarships based on athletic performance or artistic performance

 

Scholarship Opportunities

 

Dual Credit Scholarship

Are you a current High School student, enrolled in Dual Credit Courses with Collin College? Apply for the Dual Credit Scholarship!

 

The Collin College Foundation offers scholarships to high school students currently enrolled in the Collin College Dual Credit Program. To qualify for the Dual Credit Scholarship, applicants must meet the following general criteria:

 

·Current High School Student

·Dual Credit student in FALL 2025

·Taking a minimum of 6 credit hours of Dual Credit classes with Collin College each semester

 

Additional Information

·If you qualify for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program at your high school, you will not qualify for a Collin College Foundation tuition scholarship*. You are eligible to receive the Collin College Dual Credit Free & Reduced Tuition Waiver. For more information, please contact your high school Dual Credit Counselor.

·Students receiving the Free and Reduced Lunch tuition waiver are eligible for textbook scholarships.

·If you qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program at your high school AND are enrolled in a Specialized or Workforce program at Collin College, your completed application will be considered for additional scholarship funding.  

·Collin College Foundation scholarships are not refundable to students. Scholarship awards will be applied directly to the student account prior to the start of the semester. Textbooks and supplies must be purchased through the Collin College bookstore. Any unused funds will be returned to the Foundation.

 

Lebrecht-Hites Transfer Scholarship

Transferring to a university? Apply for the Lebrecht-Hites Transfer Scholarship!

 

Funded by the estate of World War II Veteran Royden L. Lebrecht and the Hites Foundation, the Lebrecht Hites Transfer Scholarship provides $2,500 per semester for four semesters to two Collin College students who are continuing at one of our university partner institutions. To qualify for the Lebrecht Hites Family Transfer Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

 

· Attending one of our partner universities in the Fall 2025 (see list below)

·3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale and maintain a 2.75 GPA or higher in the first semester at the transfer institution and 3.0 GPA or higher in all subsequent semesters
·Complete 60 hours at Collin College by the end of June 2025
·Submit one letter of recommendation from a Collin College faculty member
·Be a member of the honors program or have taken honors courses
·Been highly involved or held a leadership role in a student group or community organization.
·Be a U.S. Citizen, preferably a Collin County resident

 

*Dual enrolled students* - Currently, we do not offer scholarships to dual enrolled students (those attending classes with both Collin College and a partner four-year university in the same semester)
