Collin College Receives Gold-Level Veterans Award

Aug. 30, 2021 Collin College recently received the gold-level status of the 2021 Veterans Education Excellence Recognition Award from the Texas Veterans Commission. This is the first time the college has received this distinction.

According to the Texas Veterans Commission, the award recognizes institutions that provide excellence in education and related services to veteran students and promotes best practices by awarding gold-, silver- and bronze-level status to those offering these services.

It is an honor to receive this award from the Texas Veterans Commission, said Collin College Senior Vice President of Campus Operations Dr. Abe Johnson. Collin College has a longstanding tradition of providing excellent education and services to our veteran students.

This spring 1,039veterans and military-connected students enrolled in Collin College classes.The college has several Veterans Resource Centers (VRCs) designed to connect students with resources and ensure a smooth transition into college as well as foster academic success. Information on financial aid, Veterans Affairs education benefits, personal counseling, and membership in the Student Veterans of America is available through the colleges VRCs.
