The Art Gallery at Collin College Hosts Reign of Colors: A Pictorial History of Haiti

March 15, 2022 Collin College will host Reign of Colors: A Pictorial History of Haiti through April 7 at The Art Gallery at the colleges Plano Campus. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Reign of Colors showcases the inspiring culture of Haiti and its people. Drawing from African and European influences, the pieces on display depict historical events, natural scenes, religious themes, and more, providing insight into the optimistic and resilient culture of the Pearl of the Antilles. On loan from the private collection of Yvonne and Glenn Stokes, world-famous collectors of Haitian art, the exhibition contains pieces in nave (self-taught) and modern styles in media including paintings, metal carvings, wood carvings, and bottles.
Glenn Stokes, an expert in Haitian art, will give lectures on the country's history and its art on selected dates throughout the exhibition. The Stokes family also plans to give away 10 paintings from the exhibition during its run. Details will be available at the gallery.
The Art Gallery is located at Collin Colleges Plano Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Room A175, in Plano. The gallery's hours are Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
