March 17, 2022 The Collin College Wylie Campus will host ShamrockFest, its inaugural signature campus event from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 24 in the Wylie Campus courtyard, 391 Country Club Road in Wylie.
Open to the public, the biennial event will include food trucks as well as a variety of free and fun activities including Irish music performances, a live DJ, a henna artist, a cartoonist, airbrush tattoo stations, a cornhole tournament, a corn maze, zipline, eliminator, and bowling inflatables, and much more.
Dr. Mary McRae, Wylie Campus provost, said the Wylie Campus faculty and staff have been working with the community and preparing for months for ShamrockFest.
The community involvement for this event is remarkable, Dr. McRae said. Local businesses and the citizens of Wylie welcomed the college long before the Wylie Campus opened its doors, and our partnerships have continued to flourish. This event is a celebration which will offer more than 35 community and college tables with a variety of fun activities.
Visitors can learn more about Wylie Campus programs and Collin College services and enjoy pop music from RockIT, a new band comprised of mathematics professors and IT staff. Guests can also pick up college and community swag and participate in activities ranging from propagating succulents to making cat toys to microscope ID quizzes.
In addition, Collin College students with grade point averages of 2.5 or higher who are taking a minimum of six credit hours (not continuing education noncredit classes) can apply for a $500 textbook scholarship from Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU).
