April 20, 2023 Collin College will accept more students into its Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Licensed Vocational Nursing to Registered Nurse (LVN-to-RN) programs this fall. The move, which opens 100 additional nursing education opportunities at a time where more healthcare workers are needed, was approved by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

The ADN program will increase from 90 students to 120 students for both spring and fall semesters, while the LVN-to-RN program which currently admits 50 students; will increase to 90 students yearly and admit in both fall and spring.

This expansion is in response to the rapidly growing population in our area, and the increased need for healthcare providers within the whole country, Dr. Abe Johnson, vice president of campus operations said. Were proud to offer more opportunities to more students and be a part of a solution to a problem that affects all of our communities.

Collin College prides itself in creating an educational pathway for students interested in the nursing field. Students can start in the Vocational Nursing program, continue their education by pursuing their ADN, and ultimately earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) all while attending Collin College.

I am very proud of the faculty and staff at Collin College who work very diligently to prepare students to be nurses of the highest caliber, Dr. David Peruski, dean of nursing said. Our students are successfully employed and sought after for the level of preparedness they receive at Collin.
