Collin College Auteur Film Series Presents True Grit

Collin College’s Auteur Film Series continues its 2023-24 selections with True Grit at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Angelika Film Center in Plano. The screening and subsequent panel discussion are free and open to the public.

A 2010 Coen Brothers remake of the 1969 John Wayne original, True Grit follows a teenage girl as she gallops through the Wild West tracking her father’s murderer. The film series’ 2023-2024 theme is “Nothing New Under the Sun: Remixes and Remakes.”

The Auteur Film Series presents classic, foreign, and independent films with brief educational introductions before the screenings and faculty-led panel discussions afterward. The film series is designed to challenge the viewer’s intellect and encourage conversations that engage students in civil discourse. 

The films will all be shown at 7 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before each film begins, and seating is limited. Some material may not be suitable for all audiences.
