Area leaders recently convened for the second annual Collin Leadership Policy Summit,
attended by approximately 300 people on Oct. 4 at Collin College’s McKinney Campus.
The half-day summit explored regional issues of interest on a wide array of topics.
“The Collin Leadership Policy Summit brings together public and private sector leaders
to build relationships and discuss important issues that impact our region’s long-term
success,” said District President Dr. Neil Matkin. “By hosting this event, we seek
to increase awareness of the challenges faced by various sectors in our community
and promote solutions that advance our region.”
The featured speakers of the keynote address “A Tribute to Law Enforcement” included
the City of Allen Mayor Baine Brooks and Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner.
Several business, community, and civic leaders, including Collin County Commissioner
Cheryl Williams, Town of Prosper Mayor David Bristol, 199th District Court Judge Angela
Tucker, and Allen ISD Trustee Sam Abiog served as panelists for the following discussions:
Leveraging Partnerships for a Skilled Workforce
The Changing Media Landscape in Collin County
Behavioral Health in Collin County
The Impact of Practicing Civil Discourse
How Technology is Changing Transportation
Criminal Justice Reform and The Workplace
The event was sponsored by Atmos Energy, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center McKinney,
Crawford Catastrophe Services, Credit Union of Texas, Independent Financial, and Oncor.
The summit was held in partnership with several chambers of commerce including Allen-Fairview,
Celina, Collin County Black, Farmersville, Frisco, Greater North Texas Hispanic, McKinney,
Melissa, Plano, Princeton-Lowry Crossing, Prosper, Richardson, and Wylie.
Collin College serves more than 58,000 credit and continuing education students annually
