Collin College Theatre Department Presents "Masks (An Evening of Original Storytelling)"

Join the Collin College Theatre Department for “Masks (An Evening of Original Storytelling).” This collection of performer-written plays runs from May 1-5 in the Black Box Theatre on the Plano Campus. Tickets are free for students and Collin employees, $5 for veterans, the military, and those ages 65 or older, and $10 per person for all other attendees.

Director Vanessa Kenney notes that masks can be a way to hide, codeswitch, deceive, explore, conform, expand, be fluid, and transform.

“Created by the performers from their own stories, this show explores identity, belonging, and the profound impact of others’ perceptions,” Kenney said. “Featuring original music by Isabella Wilson and improvised choreography inspired by the unfolding tales, this multimedia collaborative performance offers an unparalleled experience. An event that promises to redefine perceptions, ‘Masks’ offers an honest exploration of what it truly means to see and to be seen.”

The public should be aware that topics in these plays may include death, mental health, profanity, and adult themes.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. from May 1-4. Matinee shows begin at 2:30 p.m. on May 4 and May 5. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided for the matinee performance on Saturday, May 4.

Tickets are available at https://collincollege.ticketleap.com. The Black Box Theatre is located on the Plano Campus at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.
