Governor Greg Abbott recently announced that Collin College received a $491,280 Skills
Development Fund (SDF) grant award from the Texas Workforce Commission. The college
will provide more than 330 new and current workers at Advanced Fixture Inc. and Credit
Union of Texas with customized training in retail fixture manufacturing and banking.
SDF is the state’s workforce training grant program to help businesses upskill their
new or incumbent workforce. In partnership with the public community and technical
colleges, workforce development boards, and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service,

Texas since the program’s inception in 1996.
The training will be tailored and facilitated through the Grants Management Office
at Collin College, which works to promote partnerships and training capacity to attract
and retain businesses in the area.
