Courtney Mulcahy, associate dean of Academic Affairs/Workforce, has graduated from Leadership Wylie.

Dr. Meredith Martin, associate dean at Frisco Campus, has graduated from Leadership Richardson, Class 39.

Joan Mendez, Library Branch Manager at Celina Campus, has graduated from Leadership Celina.

Pamela Lee, associate dean of Student Enrollment Services Celina Campus, graduated from Leadership Celina.

Dr. Alicia Huppe, associate vice president of Student Enrollment Services, graduated from Leadership McKinney.

The Vocational Nursing faculty participated in volunteering at Faith in Action at Baylor Medical Center and received nursing supplies from the organization. The supplies received will help learners with skills and didactic courses.

Julie Hershenberg, professor of Government at Plano Campus, was accepted to the National Archives “Civics for All of US” Educator’s Institute in Washington, D.C.

More than 130 people attended the Northeast Texas Small Acreage and New Landowner Conference on May 31 at the Farmersville Campus. The event was a joint conference between the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Collin College. Attendees included area registrants, vendors, AgriLife agents, Texas Department of Agriculture representatives, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and USDA Financial service representatives. Thank you to Collin College’s Urban Sustainable Agriculture Director Anne Thornton, professor Ling Sun, and workforce coach Deidra Carpenter for helping to make this a successful event.

The Frisco Campus partnered with the Frisco ISD Education Foundation to host 230 middle school students as part of the MindBender Academy on June 3-4. MindBender Academy encourages students to explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The students were led through a molecular gastronomy experiment by Chemistry and Culinary faculty, learned about horsepower and cellular respiration from Physics and Biology faculty, and had an opportunity to design and edit a game level in the Godot game engine with the assistance from Game and Animation faculty.

Collin College Theatre alum Michael Urie will play opposite Sutton Foster in the upcoming Broadway production of “Once Upon A Mattress” and was featured in a People magazine article online here.

The Collin College Respiratory Care program has been recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) with the Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award for the 12th consecutive year. This award is presented as part of the CoARC’s continued efforts to value the RRT credential as a standard of professional achievement. From a program effectiveness perspective, the CoARC views the RRT credential as a measure of a program’s success in inspiring its graduates to achieve their highest educational and professional aspirations.

McKinney Campus drew 133 campers to Nurse Camp in June. Thirty-six of the college’s Nursing students assisted in making the camp a success.
