Book-In-Common is a yearlong program in which Collin College students and community members are encouraged to read the same book and discuss its themes. Station Eleven is a dystopian novel set in the eerie days of civilization’s collapse. It discusses themes of art, culture, survival, relationships, health, and memory.
Station Eleven was a finalist for the National Book Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. The national bestseller has also been adapted into a limited series on HBO Max. Station Eleven is available for checkout at the Collin College Library as an eBook or audiobook.
“Every year the Book-in-Common committee selects a book that highlights current issues, past events, or even personal struggles, hoping to bring discourse and build community in the classroom,” said Ryan S. Fletcher, district coordinator for Book-In-Common. “Dystopian fiction is very popular right now, and with our own recent pandemic, we wanted to give students and the community a chance to discuss the realities of it all.”
