An adaptation of Markus Zusak’s novel of the same name, the film tells the story of a girl in WWII Germany who embraces the power of books and reading as a means of survival. This film is presented in partnership with the Holocaust International Remembrance Day Exhibition Committee. This year’s Auteur Film Series theme, “Film Adaptation: From Page to Screen,” includes a selection of works that transitioned from beloved books to the big screen.
The Auteur Film Series presents classic, foreign, and independent films with brief educational introductions before the screenings and faculty-led panel discussions afterward. The film series is designed to challenge the viewer’s intellect and encourage conversations that engage students in civil discourse.
The films will all be shown at 7 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before each film begins, and seating is limited.
