Collin College students from the Technical Campus Construction Management program — competing against four-year institutions — secured top rankings in two construction management skills competitions.

The students started their winning journey at the 2026 TEXO Region 5 Student Competitions, held in Hurst, Feb. 14-16. The competition brings together top construction management students from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas who meet each year in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area to showcase their skills and connect with TEXO Foundation member companies for internships and full-time employment. Teams prepare real-world bid proposals and deliver in-person presentations to industry professionals.

Collin students participated in four competition divisions: Heavy Civil, Commercial Open, Commercial Region 5, and Concrete Solutions. They won first place in Commercial Region 5 and third place in Concrete Solutions.

The following three students also earned awards for Best Presenter:

James Hinch – First place, Commercial Region 5

Eric Jaramillo – First place, Heavy Civil

Ricardo Aguilar Martinez – Third place, Concrete Solutions

On Feb. 16, two teams of students from the Construction Management program traveled to Orlando, Florida, to participate in the 2026 National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders’ ShowÒ (IBS) Student Competition. This annual event provides students from secondary, associate, and four-year programs the opportunity to apply classroom skills to real-world construction projects. The teams spent six months preparing a proposal to develop a 93-acre parcel of land in Georgia for 195 production homes.
