At Collin College, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting the information you share with us. As a public institution of higher education, we do not actively share personal information collected through interactions with our web servers. Collin College will only disclose personal information if required to do so by law.

 

This privacy notice applies to all pages within the www.collin.edu domain, but not to external links or websites. Links to non-Collin College websites are outside our control, so please review their privacy policies for information on how they handle your data.

 

What Information is Collected

Information collected on collin.edu includes typical web analytics data, such as:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address, hostname, and service provider.
  • Date and time of visits.
  • Referring links, search terms, or websites you came from.
  • Website interactions like pages visited, files downloaded, errors encountered, and time spent on the site.

Information collected may also include that which is voluntarily submitted by you to Collin College such as:

Third-Party Tracking Tools

Collin College uses third-party web analytics services and applications to[GU1]  monitor the effectiveness of the website and to consider potential improvements to the website and for marketing. These tools collect non-personal data, which is transmitted to and stored on external servers (e.g., Google). Collin College does not share specific information about individual users.

 

Pixels

A pixel, or pixel tag, is a small, secure image[GU2]  embedded in webpages or emails to monitor user interactions. Its transmission is protected using secure encryption. They may also enable cookies on your device for tracking purposes.

 

Web Forms

Information you submit through forms on our website that are used to respond to your inquiries or analyze trends. In some cases, your submission may be redirected to another government agency or individual who can better address your concern.

 

Server Logs

Collin College uses a third-party to host its web servers. The vendor maintains all website access logs and monitors network traffic for site management purposes. This helps diagnose server issues and improve website performance.

Review or Correct Personal Information

With few exceptions, you are entitled at your request to be informed about the information Collin College collects about you. Under Sections 552.021 and 552.023 of the Texas Government Code, you are entitled to receive and review the information. Under Section 559.004 of the Texas Government Code, you are entitled to have the college correct information about you that is held by us and that is incorrect, in accordance with the college's public information procedures under the Texas Public Information Act.

 

The information that Collin College collects will be retained and maintained as required by Texas records retention laws (Section 441.180 et seq. of the Texas Government Code) and rules. Different types of information are kept for different periods of time.
