2023  

» The Collin College Polysomnographic Technology Program has graduated its tenth AAS cohort. Congratulations to the Class of 2023 and best wishes as you take your boards and enter the workforce!

» Director Amber Allen was elected President-Elect of the Board of Directors for the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) and started her term on January 1, 2023. Her two-year term as President will begin January 1, 2024. The BRPT is the leading internationally recognized credentialing body for sleep technology. Read the press release here.

 

2022

» The Collin College Polysomnographic Technology Program has graduated its ninth AAS cohort. Congratulations to the Class of 2022 and best wishes as you take your boards and enter the workforce!

» The program and Director Amber Allen were spotlighted in the EnsoData February 2022 blog feature, "Education to Solve the Sleep Tech Shortage Impacting Sleep Medicine." Read the blog feature here.

» Director Amber Allen was one of the sleep medicine industry leaders selected to participate in the American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST) Summit in Chicago, IL on April 2. This summit discussed the future of sleep medicine and included delegates from the AAST, the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and other associated organizations. 

 

2021

» The Collin College Polysomnographic Technology Program has graduated its eighth AAS cohort. Congratulations to the Class of 2021 and best wishes as you take your boards and enter the workforce!

 

2020

» The Collin College Polysomnographic Technology Program has graduated its seventh AAS cohort. Congratulations to the Class of 2020 and best wishes as you take your boards and enter the workforce!

» Program Director Amber Allen has been elected Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). Her two-year term will begin January 2021. Read the BRPT press release here.

2018

AAS Class of 2018

» The Collin College Polysomnographic Technology Program has graduated its fifth AAS cohort and its third Certificate cohort. Congratulations to the Class of 2018 and best wishes as you take your boards and enter the workforce!

» The Collin College Polysomnographic Technology Program has been granted continuing accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), with the next comprehensive evaluation to occur no later than 2028.

 

2017 Megan Mackay AAST Award

» Polysomnographic Technology Class of 2016 graduate Megan Mackay received the 2017 American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST) New Technologist of the Year Award at the SLEEP 2017 Conference in Boston, MA on June 5, 2017. The award is given to a recent graduate of an accredited sleep technology education program who has passed the ABSM or BRPT credentialing exam and attained the RST or RPSGT credential within the past year.

» The Polysomnographic Technology Program is featured in the September 2015 issue of Allen Image Magazine. Read the article on pages 24 and 25.

» Amber Allen (Program Director), Karen Peterson (Faculty/Clinical Coordinator), and Dr. David Ostransky (Medical Director) were speakers at the 9th Annual BRPT Symposium on September 18 and 19, 2015, in Dallas, TX.

» The Collin College Polysomnographic Technology Program has graduated its second class. Congratulations to the Class of 2015 and best of luck as you take your boards and enter the workforce!

» Collin College Polysomnographic Technology AAS Class of 2016 student, Uzma Rashid, has been named the winner of the fifth Andrea Patterson Memorial Scholarship, a $2,500 scholarship awarded by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). This scholarship is awarded annually to one promising student of polysomnography in a CAAHEP or CoARC accredited program. This is the second year in a row that a polysomnographic technology student from Collin College has won this distinguished award. For more information, view the magazine page here.

 

2014
» Program Director, Amber Allen, was a speaker at the 8th Annual BRPT Symposium on September 6 and 7, 2014 in Portland, OR. She gave lectures on adolescent sleep, sleep forensics, and sleep education.

» The Polysomnographic Technology Program and Class of 2014 members Vivian Dailey and Michael Monk are featured in the June 2014 issue of Plano Profile Magazine.

» The Collin College Polysomnographic Technology Program has graduated its first class. Congratulations to the Class of 2014 and best of luck as you take your boards and enter the workforce!

» Collin College Polysomnographic Technology AAS Class of 2015 student, Euisun Field, has been named the winner of the fourth Andrea Patterson Memorial Scholarship, a $2,500 scholarship awarded by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). This scholarship is awarded annually to one promising student of polysomnography in a CAAHEP or CoARC accredited program.

» Program Director, Amber Allen, and Medical Director, Dr. David Ostransky, were speakers at the Texas Society for Respiratory Care's 6th Annual Sleep Conference on July 10 in Dallas, TX.
» The Polysomnographic Technology Program has been awarded initial accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

 

2012
» The Polysomnographic Technology Program welcomed its first cohort of students in the AAS track.
