Wednesday, April 15: 2-4:30 p.m. WSC 208
Have you ever wondered what a logarithm is and why it is important? Can you put aside $20,000 at 20 years old and end up with a million dollars by age 50? How about knowing how scientists determine a fossil's age? In this workshop, students will learn how to answer such questions along with ways of applying logarithmic properties for expanding and condensing logarithmic expressions and solving exponential and logarithmic equations. Assistance in using the graphing calculator will be provided.
Caution! Students may become MADS* about math! 🙂

Wylie APCAA on Campus Math Workshop: Using the Graphing Calculator to Graph Quadratic Functions and Find Zeros
Wednesday, March 25: 2:30 - 4 p.m. WSC208
Our world is exceedingly mathematical. A quadratic function of the form f(x) = ax2 + bx + c is able to describe the path of a football thrown to make a winning touchdown, how a racecar's stopping distance changes at various speeds, and even how a social media post gets popular quickly, peaks, and then loses its popularity. In this workshop, you will learn how to find and analyze quadratic functions and find zeros of polynomials. Please bring a graphing calculator, TI 83 or TI 84, to the workshop to learn how to find the vertex and zeros using the graphing calculator
