Why the Academy?
The Texas A&M Engineering Academy offers students:
- Admission to the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University from day one.
- An opportunity to take Texas A&M engineering courses from Texas A&M professors at
Collin College.
- An opportunity to join a community of Engineering Academy peers by taking math, science,
and engineering courses with other Engineering Academy students.
- An opportunity to participate in student activities and organizations at both institutions.
- An affordable pathway to earning a Texas A&M engineering degree.
- Transition to Texas A&M University after one or two years of co-enrollment at Collin
College and Texas A&M.
- An opportunity to apply for early entry into a degree-granting major within the College
of Engineering at Texas A&M, if qualified.
Eligibility & Enrollment
The Engineering Academy at Collin College is for Collin College students who have
achieved a high school diploma or equivalent and are pre-calculus or calculus ready
as determined by Collin College. Interested students must:
- Be able to maintain full-time student status each semester while co-enrolled in Collin
College and Texas A&M for at least one year before transitioning to Texas A&M University,
AND
- Satisfy one of the math readiness criteria below to be qualified for the Engineering Academy:
- Provide college transcripts showing credit for College Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus
or Calculus I with a grade of A, B, or C, OR
- Pass the College Level Math (CLM) exam with appropriate placement scores in Precalculus
(255-284) or Calculus (285-300). Students can sign up for testing through the Collin College Testing website, OR
- Submit ALEKS scores from another institution with appropriate placement in Precalculus
(61 -75) or Calculus (76 – 100), OR
- Pass a College Level Examination Program (CLEP) or International Baccalaureate (IB)
exam with a score granting credit at Collin College for College Algebra, Pre-Calculus,
or Calculus, OR
- Pass an Advanced Placement (AP) test with a score of 3 or higher in Precalculus, Calculus
(AB), or Calculus (BC).
Test scores (CLM, AP, CLEP, IB, ALEKS) or transcripts must be submitted to Collin
College before application can be reviewed.

Student Application Process
1. Apply to Collin College if you are not already a CC student.
2. Fill out prequalification form (link found on this page when available).
3. Submit math-readiness document(s):
a. Students who have earned math college credit with CC (see criteria above):
skip to step 4.
b. Students who have NOT earned math college credit with CC: submit test
scores (see criteria above) to tamuengineeringacademy@collin.edu.
4. Receive TAMU application via email (application is free), if eligible.
5. Complete TAMU application and submit all requested documents by June 15.
6. Receive acceptance/denial letter via email.
7. Make an appointment with a Collin College Engineering Academy advisor at the
Technical Campus in Allen by emailing tamuengineeringacademy@collin.edu or calling 972.599.3167.
